AND has higher precedence than OR, so it binds its operands first - just like * binds before + in arithmetic. The expression groups as (a AND b) OR (c AND d): both AND pairs are evaluated first, then OR combines the two results. Always add parentheses when mixing AND and OR; silent precedence bugs are hard to find in production queries.
