COMMIT makes every change within the transaction durable - other sessions can see the updates and they survive a crash. ROLLBACK discards all changes, leaving the database exactly as it was when the transaction began. If your application crashes without reaching COMMIT, the database automatically rolls back the transaction on reconnect.
