Unlike most programming languages, SQL does not promise that the left side of AND is fully evaluated before the right side. The query optimizer can reorder predicate evaluation for performance, which means col2 / col1 may run on rows where col1 = 0, causing a divide-by-zero error at runtime. The safe fix is NULLIF: col2 / NULLIF(col1, 0) > 2, which converts zero to NULL so the division yields NULL instead of an error.
